The Alim Educational Society Katihar, has been founded by the Muslim Religious Minority community of the State of Bihar, under Article 30(1) of the Constitution of India and registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860. The society established and started the Katihar Teachers’ Training College, Katihar in the year2007 to cater to the need of Teacher Training Colleges’ an imperative need of large number of untrained graduates of the region and to make them qualified to seek employment as well as to provide opportunity in securing degree of Bachelor of Education.
A part from this basic need of the untrained graduates and certificate holders, the Board also felt the necessity of sponsoring a Teacher Training College in this region which could produce human resources and could be safely entrusted with the responsibility of teaching the students in Muslim Minority Institution in an atmosphere conductive to the health growth of character of the students in the light of the Cultural, Religious and Linguistic heritage of the community so that they may be able to discharge their National Obligation with improve quality of heart, head and character making Secular India richer and more glorious. Hence to fulfill the long standing necessity of the Muslim Community and the population of the region, the Board of society sponsored and established a Teachers’ Training College at Katihar, Bihar as a Minority Institution under Act. 30 (1) of the constitution of India with respect to its management.

KATIHAR:

Katihar is a district of Kosi Division besides Purnea, Saharsa and Madhepura. Kosi Division is situated in the northeast of Bihar, has a share of large population of the state. District Katihar adjacent to Purnea has the highest number of Muslim population after Murshidabad (W.B). It is also noteworthy that katihar has the highest number of Urdu speaking population in Bihar. But the Muslim population of this region is most backward and depressed, educationally as well as economically.
Katihar is Railway Junction connected from all parts of the country by Rail and Road.
The Government of India under “The National Education policy 1986, has declared Katihar as one of the Backward Muslim Minority dominated districts in Bihar. The policy has been implemented under the seventh plan period mainly for the minority community in the light of Article 29 & 30.
